The act of photography
The act of photographing something, and the resulting image, opens our eyes and makes us see. So often we skim or scan without really seeing the detail of anything, until we begin to look for hidden aspects, a different angle, a theme or a close-up for a photograph. Do you see the individual leaves when you look at a tree, their shape, their colour and how they are arranged? Do you see the tiny grasshopper on the flower you just passed, or even that the centre of the flower is a different colour or that the flower was actually lots of tiny flowers in a bunch.?
Hi, I’m Joanna. I’m a photographer on the Central Coast of NSW Australia. I love nature and everything in it. I love light and shadow and sun and rain and water and earth. I love the animals and the clouds, the rocks and the sheer amazingness of everything God created. And I love being able to show you what I see, that you may not have had time to stop for, or that may have disappeared just before you got there. I love that a photograph can freeze a moment in time, can stir a memory, keep near something or someone that we no longer have or take you somewhere you have never been.
A photograph allows us to study it in detail at our leisure, out of season, out of place and sometimes even shows us that which we ourselves did not see when it was taken. I hope my images take you on a journey of discovery, of delight and wonder, that leave you breathless and awed. Thank you for taking the time to stop and see.
Joanna
